About Craniosacral Therapy (CST)...
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment developed by osteopathic physician Dr John Upledger, following clinical research at Michigan State University into the craniosacral system (the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord).
Because this system connects directly to the central nervous system, working with it can have a measurable effect on both body and mind.
Using a very light touch, I assess the whole body for areas of restriction or tension, and work to release them. Helping to ease pain, reduce stress, and support the nervous system's overall function.
CST is recognised and regulated in the UK by the Cranio Sacral Society, the professional body that accredits Upledger training and upholds a shared code of ethics and practice among qualified therapists.
Take a look at the video above, 'The Missing Piece', for a lovely introduction to what CST is really about.

About Ileana Richards...

My journey to Craniosacral Therapy began as a client!
I spent 11 years working in the ambulance service, starting as an Apprentice Ambulance Care Assistant and moving through frontline Emergency Response, Emergency Preparedness and Resilience, and eventually Team Leadership. Throughout it all, one thing stayed constant: a deep belief that every person deserves to feel heard, respected and cared for, especially on their hardest days.
It was during my second maternity leave that I first discovered Craniosacral Therapy. My baby daughter was suffering with severe silent reflux, and despite trying everything conventional medicine had to offer, nothing brought her relief. On our Health Visitor's recommendation we tried a session of CST. Within 48 hours she was transformed: calm, content and pain-free. As someone with a clinical background, I needed to understand how such a gentle therapy could achieve such significant results.
I booked sessions for myself too. I found real relief from my own aches, pains and stress, and became fascinated by the body's capacity for self-correction. That curiosity led me to train with the Upledger Institute UK, and eventually to leave the ambulance service to build my own practice. Since then I've supported many adults on their road to recovery. People living with chronic illness, stress and overwhelm, migraines, musculoskeletal pain, injuries and post-surgical recovery, among others. Witnessing that transformation, often in people who've tried many other avenues first, never gets old.
I'm a member of the Cranio Sacral Society, and continue to build on my Upledger training.
Outside of work, I have a wonderful husband and two children who keep life joyful and beautifully chaotic.

About Your Treatment...
Not sure what to expect from a session? Here's a little reassurance.
We'll start with a chat. Every session begins with time to talk. How you've been feeling, your health history, and what you'd like support with. This helps shape your treatment and makes sure it's safe and right for you.
You'll stay fully clothed (socks and all!) and get comfortable on a treatment table with an air mattress and optional bolsters and pillows. CST uses very gentle pressure at different points around the body — often the head, torso and feet.
You're always in control. I'll check in and explain what I'm doing as we go, so you feel informed throughout. You're welcome to talk, ask questions, shift position, or simply rest quietly — there's no right or wrong way to receive treatment.
We'll finish with time to reflect. Before you go, we'll talk through anything you noticed, answer any questions, and I'll share some simple aftercare advice — and sometimes a few gentle techniques you can try at home between sessions.
